As of March 14,
2025, BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, holds over 567,000 Bitcoin
(BTC), valued at approximately $47.8 billion.
This substantial holding is managed
through BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT), which seeks to reflect
the performance of Bitcoin by providing investors with direct exposure to the
cryptocurrency.
The most recent acquisition occurred on
March 14, when a Coinbase Prime wallet transferred 268 BTC, valued at over $22
million, to BlackRock's IBIT wallet.
This move underscores BlackRock's
growing confidence in Bitcoin's potential as a mainstream investment option.
Beyond Bitcoin, BlackRock's
cryptocurrency holdings are diverse, including over 1.2 million Ether (ETH),
valued at over $2.3 billion, approximately 70 million USDC stablecoins, and a
variety of other altcoins.
This diversification strategy aims to
spread risk and capitalize on the growth potential of different digital assets.
BlackRock's substantial investment in
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies reflects a trend of institutional adoption,
signaling increased acceptance and integration of digital assets into
traditional financial portfolios.
