On May 16, 2024, Blast Network announced the upcoming airdrop event, scheduled for June 26.
Blast is an Ethereum layer-2 solution designed
to scale the main Ethereum blockchain and reduce transaction fees while
maintaining security. As of May 17, 2024, Blast has $1.504 billion TVL.
The airdrop will distribute BLAST
tokens to both developers and early users, a strategy that aims to reward those
who have contributed to the network's growth and success.
Half of the tokens are allocated to
developers through Blast Gold points, incentivizing the creation and
development of decentralized apps (dApps) on the platform.
The remaining tokens are reserved for
early adopters, including those who bridged funds to the network prior to its
mainnet launch in February.
This dual-faceted distribution approach
reflects Blast's commitment to fostering a robust and active ecosystem.
Blast
was built by Tieshun Roquerre also known as Pacman,
the founder of the NFT marketplace Blur BLUR.
The airdrop's design mirrors the
successful strategy employed by Blur, the NFT marketplace, which resulted in
significant token distribution to early participants.
Blast decided to increase the airdrop
allocation as compensation for the delay from the initially planned date in May
further exemplifies their dedication to maintaining a positive relationship
with their community.
