On Apr 25, 2024, rarity Crypto Punk #635, one of the nine Alien CryptoPunks, was sold for 4,000 ETH worth $12.405 million.

The transaction sent from alien.fountaindigital.eth to 239DC2.

CryptoPunks are a pioneering non-fungible token (NFT) collection on the Ethereum blockchain, launched in June 2017 by Larva Labs, a studio founded by Canadian software developers Matt Hall and John Watkinson.

The collection consists of 10,000 unique 24x24 pixel art images of characters with varying attributes, including humans, zombies, apes, and aliens.

Each CryptoPunk is algorithmically generated, ensuring no two are exactly alike, and some traits are rarer than others.

Originally, they were available for free, with new owners only needing to pay the "gas fees" for Ethereum transactions.

The rarity and unique characteristics of each CryptoPunk have contributed to their value and popularity in the NFT marketplace.

CryptoPunks have played a significant role in the NFT craze of 2021 and are often credited with inspiring the ERC-721 standard, which is fundamental to the modern crypto art movement.

In 2022, Yuga Labs, the creators of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, acquired the CryptoPunks IP, granting full commercial rights to CryptoPunk owners.
