Curve Finance’s TVL Decreased From $3.266 Billion To $1.715 Billion After $52 Million Exploit Happened

$52 million worth of cryptocurrencies got hacked from Curve Finance on July 30, 2023. Curve Finance is one of the largest decentralized exchanges. There was a bug found within the old version of Vyper compiler contract programming language causing failure in the security system.

 

The hacker stole $52 million worth of cryptocurrencies from Curve Finance’s liquidity pools. These following pools have been exploited: alETH/ETH, msETH/ETH, pETH/ETH, and CRV/ETH. Blockchain security firm PeckShield has udpate the stolen amount to $52 million.

On July 30, Curve Finance had a TVL of $3.266 billion. After $52 million exploit that happened on July 30. On August 2, Curve Finance’s TVL decreased to $1.715 billion. Curve Finance’s TVL decreased 46% in just 3 days.
