EigenLayer is the pioneer in restaking.
It introduces the concept of restaking.
EigenLayer allows ETH stakers to stake
liquid staking tokens to provide security on other protocol within the Ethereum
network. Therefore, restaking will increase rewards for Ethereum stakers.
EigenLayer ecosystem is vast. It
provides data availability layers that help reduce transaction costs,
decentralized sequencers, light node bridges, and oracles.
On April 10, 2024, EigenLayer announced
that it launched EigenLayer and EigenDA deploy on Ethereum Mainnet.
New functionality includes:
Restakers can delegate their entire stake to an Operator of their choice.
Operators can register with EigenLayer and opt-in to running AVSs.
AVSs (Actively Validated Services) can register with the protocol, starting with
EigenDA (currently in beta).
Now there are over 4.1 million ETH
restaked on EigenLayer. EigenLayer has $13.334 billion total value locked
deposited in its platform.
