Metaplanet, a Japanese investment
company, continues to purchase more bitcoin.
On March 5, 2025, the company spent $43.9
million to purchase 497 more bitcoins (BT). Just two days earlier, it had
already bought 156 BTC for $13.4 million.
Metaplanet now owns 2,888 BTC. It spent
a total of $240.2 million to buy these bitcoins. The average price per bitcoin
was $83,172. The current value of its bitcoin holdings is $251 million, meaning
it has made a profit on paper.
Metaplanet started aggressively buying
bitcoin in April 2024. In December, it officially made bitcoin a key part of
its business. The company plans to own 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000
BTC by 2026.
Metaplanet’s stock has gone up 17% on
Wednesday. While, the Nikkei 225 index has increased 0.55%.
Bitcoin's price rose 4% in the past 24
hours, reaching $87,404.
Metaplanet continues to see bitcoin as
a valuable investment and is rapidly increasing its holdings.
