Montenegro has decided to extradite
Terraform Labs founder Do Kwon to the United States.
Montenegro’s Minister of Justice has
signed an order to extradite Do Kwon to the United Statesejecting South Korea’s
request.
Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs,
is wanted for his suspected role in the collapse of the TerraUSD stablecoin,
which wiped out about $40 billion of investors' money.
Do Kwon was arrested in March 2023 at
Podgorica Airport while attempting to board a flight with a fake Costa Rican
passport.
After a series of court rulings and
reversals, Montenegro's Constitutional Court approved the extradition, and
Justice Minister Bojan Bozovic signed the decision.
Do Kwon's lawyers have announced plans
to appeal to Montenegro's Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human
Rights.
Kwon’s Montenegrin lawyers, Marija
Radulovic and Goran Rodic, said they have asked both the country’s
constitutional court and the European Court of Human Rights to issue stays
against the extradition.
