According to James Seyffart, a
Bloomberg Intelligence analyst, options on Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds
(ETFs) are expected to launch in the United States by Q1 2025. The U.S.
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has already authorized Nasdaq to list
options tied to BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF, iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), but they
are still awaiting final approvals from the Commodity Futures Trading
Commission (CFTC) and the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC).
These Bitcoin ETF options will allow
investors to hedge or speculate on Bitcoin's price movements more effectively.
If it gets approved, options on Bitcoin ETFs are expected to further legitimize
Bitcoin as a mainstream financial asset.
