On October 6, 2023 Polkadot announced that it has added 5 new parachains to
its ecosystem include:
1. Peaq
It enables
people to build Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (#DePIN), giving
incentives to communities to connect hardware devices.
2. Bit.Country
It is a
platform that enables users to create their own metaverses, it claims that
users can launch their own metaverse in 12 seconds, and streamlining the
creation process with a library of existing content.
3. InvArch
It is an infrastructure project called InvArch. It provides multisig solution for the entire Polkadot ecosystem.
It
uses Web3 technology to help companies register, track, and trade low-carbon
products. It helps major names
like Shell, Vodafone, and Volkswagen to accelerate their decarbonization
strategies.
5. Nodle
It is a
connectivity provider for the Internet of Things, building a network powered by
Bluetooth low energy to help companies and cities connect. Any smartphones can
become nodes by locating and connecting devices within
the network.

Note that the most important factor that help increase the price of layer 1 token is that it needs a lot of successful projects because successful and well-known projects attract a lot of users which increase network activity.
More and more parachains that have been added to the Polkadot network increase the chance for Polkadot to have succesful projects occur.
