Stellar will have Protocol 20 upgrade that introduces the Soroban smart contract platform

The Stellar Development Foundation plans to launch Protocol 20 upgrade that introduces the Soroban smart contract by the end of this month. The upgrade will start on Jan 30, 2024.

 

Stellar already started the Protocol 20 upgrade but found a bug on Jan 25. Therefore, it postponed to Jan 30 after the bug is fixed.

 

Soroban is version 20 of the Stellar protocol. It is a smart contract platform with built-to-scale functionality and developer-friendly. Soroban aims to created uncomplicated developer experience. Developers can get applications built and running easier.

 

Stellar is a hard fork of XRP. It is a blockchain for payments and tokenization. It was founded by Jed McCaleb.

 

Stellar blockchain can process 4,000 transactions per second and it supports smart contracts. Stellar’s time to finality is 5.8 seconds.

 

XLM currently ranks 26th largest crypto by market cap.
