Telegram has introduced a new in-app payment system called Telegram Stars,
which allows users to pay for digital goods and services directly within the
app.
This feature is designed to make transactions seamless for users and provides a new avenue for developers to monetize their mini-apps and bots on Telegram.
Over 400 million users use bots and mini
apps to buy products, access services, play games on Telegram
every month.
Telegram Stars lets bots
and mini apps to sell digital goods and
services.
Developers can exchange
Telegram Stars token for TON, the native token of The Open Network, through the
Fragment exchange, linking the in-app currency to the broader cryptocurrency
market.
Moreover, Telegram is
offering a 70% revenue sharing for developers from in-app purchases and is
subsidizing advertisements bought with Telegram Stars, reducing the effective
commission rate to nearly zero if reinvested in promoting their apps.
This initiative is part
of Telegram’s broader efforts to integrate cryptocurrency solutions into its
platform and expand its digital economy. With Telegram Stars, the platform aims
to become a more economically viable and attractive option for developers
compared to traditional mobile app stores.
