to North Korean hackers.
The stolen crypto assets include SHIB, ETH, USDT, PEPE, MATIC, FLOKI, GALA and other. $235 million was stolen from WazirX’s multisig wallet, with a large portion in SHIB and ETH.
WazirX has paused withdrawals to protect remaining assets and is actively investigating the incident.
Blockchain sleuths and firms like
Elliptic are involved in analyzing the attack, suggesting sophisticated North
Korean involvement.
This breach has had a substantial
impact on the exchange’s financial stability, accounting for over 45% of the
total reserves.
