The Nigerian government, in collaboration with Interpol and the Kenyan police, is working to bring Nadeem Arjarwalla back to Nigeria to face charges.
Arjarwalla, a Binance employee, fled custody and was traced to Kenya by the Nigerian government.
Local Report says that he went into hiding upon his arrival in Kenya.
The Nigerian government is now taking steps to extradite him back to Nigeria with the help of Interpol and the Kenyan police.
Arjarwalla had arrived in Nigeria in February amidst allegations that Binance had manipulated the country's fiat currency, the Nigerian naira.
He was detained along with another Binance colleague during a meeting with the Nigerian government.
The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) is leading the investigation and has charged both executives with five counts of money laundering.
However, Arjarwalla managed to escape custody on March 22 and boarded a flight out of Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
It remains unclear how he was able to board the international flight as his UK passport, which he had used to enter Nigeria, was still in the custody of the Nigerian authorities.
It has been revealed that Arjarwalla fled Nigeria using a Kenyan passport, prompting authorities to investigate how he obtained it while in custody.
While Arjarwalla remains outside the country, the other Binance executive, Tigran Gambaryan, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Gambaryan's wife and supporters have launched a Petition calling for his release and return to the United States.
The petition has gained significant support with over 3,373 signatures at the time of publication. Gambaryan's case has been adjourned until April 19.
In response to the situation, Binance announced on March 5 that it would cease all naira transactions, effectively exiting the Nigerian market.
The exchange had also delisted all naira trading pairs on its peer-to-peer platform in late February.
The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria had previously raised concerns about crypto exchanges in the country being involved in illicit transactions and suspicious fund flows at Binance.
