As of August 12, 2024, U.S. bitcoin ETFs hold 909,700 BTC combined.

Eric Balchunas on X: "Didn’t realize US ETFs are on track to pass Satoshi in bitcoin held in October. BlackRock alone is already #3 and on pace to be #1 late next year, and will likely stay there for a very long time

The number of bitcoin that U.S. bitcoin ETFs are holdings put them on track to potentially surpass Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous founder of Bitcoin, as the largest BTC holder by 2025.

Currently, Satoshi Nakamoto is believed to hold around 1.1 million BTC, making him the top Bitcoin holder.

Among the US Bitcoin ETFs, BlackRock’s IBIT Bitcoin ETF is noteworthy as it is now the third-largest holder of Bitcoin in the world, with 347,767 BTC under its management.

Fidelity’s FBTC fund also holds a substantial amount, ranking ninth with 176,626 BTC.

It’s interesting to note that if we exclude Grayscale from the US ETF holdings, the total falls to 645,899 BTC.

These figures highlight the growing influence of institutional players like BlackRock and Fidelity in the cryptocurrency investment.

The involvement of such major asset management companies underscores the increasing mainstream acceptance and investment in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
