BNB Chain is getting ready for a major
upgrade called the Pascal
hard fork. The test version will launch on February 25, 2025, and
the full version will be available in mid-March 2025.
This update will make BNB Chain more
compatible with Ethereum and improve smart contract wallets.
Pascal Testnet Hardfork on February 25
brings better Ethereum compatibility, smart contract wallets (EIP-7702), easier
account recovery, multi-sig, batch transactions and more tools for developers
to build dApps.
Why This Upgrade Matters?
The Pascal hard fork will bring Ethereum’s
latest technology to BNB Chain, including a feature called EIP-7702.
This allows smart contracts to manage
user accounts, making things more secure and flexible compared to traditional
private key accounts.
What Changes for Users?
Most regular users (those who hold BNB,
use dApps, or make transactions with wallets like MetaMask or Trust Wallet) don’t
need to do anything.
Your tokens and apps will continue
working as usual. Only full node and validator operators need to update their
software to stay compatible.
What Developers Need to Know
Developers need to update their
software to handle a new field called RequestsHash, which improves
compatibility with Ethereum.
They should also test their apps on the
testnet to take advantage of new features like:

2025:
BNB Chain’s Comeback
BNB Chain is facing tough competition
from Ethereum and Solana in the DeFi space.
However, recent events—like meme coin
hype and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao’s dog Broccoli going viral—have brought
new attention to the network.
As a result, BNB’s price has jumped 14%
in the last two weeks, overtaking Solana’s SOL in rankings. Meanwhile, Solana
has faced problems like insider trading scandals and security concerns.
With its new upgrades and faster
transactions, BNB Chain is working to stay ahead in the crypto world.
