The new Google offices in El Salvador were officially inaugurated on Monday by President Nayib Bukele.
This marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the American tech giant and the Central American country.
The purpose of these offices is to collaborate with both public and private institutions in order to promote business growth, as well as modernize education and healthcare.
During the opening ceremony in the capital city, President Bukele expressed his enthusiasm, stating that these offices are Google's most important physical presence in El Salvador.
This establishment is the result of an agreement signed between Google and the Salvadoran government in August 2023.
The agreement aims to drive the country's digital government initiatives, improve healthcare services, and enhance the education system.
President Bukele emphasized the positive impact that Google has already made in El Salvador.
He mentioned that every child in the country now has access to a device with the Google Classroom teaching platform, which has greatly contributed to the digitalization and improvement of education.
Furthermore, President Bukele announced future plans to leverage Google's technology to enhance the public health system and streamline administrative procedures in various institutions, including customs.
He also revealed that his upcoming government will launch a telemedicine system in collaboration with Google during its initial months.
In addition to these initiatives, Google has plans to invest millions of dollars in establishing a data center in El Salvador.
This project is expected to generate economic growth and create opportunities for the Salvadoran population.
Eduardo López, the president of Google Cloud for Latin America, expressed the company's long-term commitment to El Salvador.
He stated that the newly opened office will serve as an active enabler of cloud technologies that will positively impact the country's economic development and provide more opportunities for its people.
