What is Movement (MOVE)?
Movement (MOVE) is a blockchain
ecosystem designed to integrate cutting-edge technologies, including its unique
MoveVM (virtual machine) and Move programming language, to support both
scalability and security.
Blockchain Features
Layer 1 Blockchain with MoveVM
Movement operates as a Layer 1 blockchain, utilizing MoveVM,
a virtual machine specifically optimized for the Move programming language.
Comparison to Sui and Aptos:
Like Sui and Aptos, which also use the Move programming language, Movement
emphasizes high-speed transactions and secure smart contract
execution.
Layer 2 EVM Development
Movement is building a Layer 2 Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)
that will utilize the Move language, combining the advantages of Move's safety
features with Ethereum's widespread adoption.
Current Development Stage
Testnet
Movement's blockchain has not yet launched its Mainnet and remains in the Testnet
phase, allowing developers and users to test the system and provide feedback.
Future Plans
After the Testnet phase, Movement aims to launch its Mainnet, which will enable
full deployment and operation.
MOVE Token: Governance and Utility
Governance Role
The MOVE token serves as the governance token of the Movement
ecosystem, enabling holders to participate in decision-making processes such as
protocol upgrades and network policies.
Utility in the Ecosystem
Gas Fees:
MOVE tokens are expected to be used for paying transaction fees on the
network once the Mainnet is launched.
Staking:
MOVE tokens are planned to support staking, allowing holders to earn
rewards by securing the network in the future.
Movement is the first Move blockchain that settles to Ethereum,
delivering improved security, high TPS, and near-instant finality. Unlike most
other Ethereum L2s, $MOVEis Movement's native token for gas and staking.
MOVE tokens have been deployed on the Ethereum Mainnet as an ERC-20 token,
enabling early adopters to trade, hold, or interact with the token while the
Movement blockchain is still in its Testnet phase.
MOVE total supply: 10 billion and MOVE’s initial circulating supply
is about 22%.
Why Movement Stands Out?
Move Language Advantages:
The Move programming language prioritizes safety and resource control, reducing
the risk of bugs and vulnerabilities common in other smart contract platforms.
Interoperability Goals:
By building a Layer 2 EVM, Movement seeks to bridge Ethereum's ecosystem with
the security and efficiency of the Move language.
Movement is an Ethereum layer-2 network built using MoveVM.
